A quick return to the car to grab a shawl, then off she went through the center field gate. Just before she got to the gate, she saw the welcome stone once again. She made a mental note to close her visit with a stop there as she knew that was where those that came to the sanctuary would finish their visits. They would offer gratitude. They would set an intention to take into the world based on the wisdom they found while at the sanctuary. They would share a moment in silence with all that was.
She sat down on the patch of dirt, noticing that she had a few hours before the sun was fully down. She wanted to be back in the car before full dark, so she could head to town with a sliver of daylight guiding her way.
She looked around at the physical manifestation of her vision and felt a huge wave of gratitude flow into her. She was there! That vision that had been given to her all those years ago was in front of and all around her. It was real! Often her resolve had waned. Would it ever happen? Was it something for her only, in her mind and heart? Was this place actually real? It was. She was touching it right at that moment. It was hard to fathom. As she sat in gratitude, she heard and felt a pull; come to the beach. And so, she did.
She went through the west gate from the center field, up onto the sand dunes, and out to the beach. It was the perfect spot to sit and listen to the waves, the breeze, and all the sanctuary had to say. Tears began to flow once more. She had followed her heart for all of those years. Tears of joy. Tears of recognition. This is exactly where she was to be. The tears washed down her face like waves washing on the shore. The waves like breath, in and out, ebb and flow, the known and the unknown.
She sat enveloped in the energy of all that surrounded her. She sat for quite some time, losing herself in the present moment. Or, perhaps, finding herself. Suddenly, yet gently, she felt the presence of someone. Many times, in the last thirty years she had come to the cliffs to sit with her future self: to sit with that part of her that was already there, to sit with that part and ask her how she did it. What steps had she taken? What areas of her life were important to evolve and extend to be there now? Yet here she was, present self and future self, in the present moment, on the land, one of them in the flesh. It was a bit hard to grasp, but she was so grateful for the connection. The visit today was not about asking questions. She was there, yes. However, there was so much more to do. But for now, they just wanted to sit on the beach, together. She let herself fall into the beautiful connection.
It seemed like quite some time, but she was drawn back by water tickling her toes. The tide was slowly coming in, reminding her that the sun would be setting soon. She quickly realized her future self had already said her goodbye and she was alone on the beach. As hard as it was, she had to drag herself back to the car and end this magical tour, for today.
There was enough light to make her way back through the gate and across the fields. Although, her feet knew the land and where to step, she could have traversed the field in the dark. They were familiar with the ebbs and flows of the land as well as the water. When she got to the main gate, she turned around to take one final mental snapshot of the most incredible sunset she had ever seen. And she had seen a few.
Her last stop was the welcome stone. Full circle. Three things she needed to do to end her visit.
Firstly, she was to offer gratitude. It was hard to pick out one thing to offer thanks for. Her heart was so very full. Just being here had taken so many connections, synchronicities, and conversations. She had made sure to share gratitude with all as she followed the path to this day. She was definitely very thankful to what had to have been for her to be in this space at this time. But what did she wish to offer gratitude for in this very moment. Ah, there it was. She felt the vibration of appreciation to the land and the sea. With her hand over her heart, she took in a deep breath of the fresh air mixed with the salt from the sea mist. It was a smell and feeling that touched her soul. Her vision and her journey had merged, and she was so very thankful.
Next was intention. What was her intention upon leaving? What was it that she had absorbed into her self during this first visit home? Resolve. She had found a new resolve. Sitting with and walking through the energy of this land had given her a knowing. All that had previously been unknown was now known. The unknown was the in-between. Now she felt the assurance that she would walk forward with strength and resolve until they met again. Soon, very soon.
And thirdly, was silence. Silence provided a moment to simply and profoundly be in presence with everything that is, with all of the feelings that were present at that moment, to offer silence of voice, and thought, to offer an open, quiet space for the next steps to share themselves. She knew they would. They had for the last thirty years.
With those three things tended to, she said a joyful, and tearful ‘see you soon’ to the land and the sea, to the paddocks, to the barn, to the cliffs, and to the house. To what was to be and to those that would visit the World Sanctuary.
As she got in her car to head back to town, she recalled the message from the cliffs:
